Digital Projection SL-4K-123 Long-Throw Lens for INSIGHT 4K Laser, INSIGHT Laser 8K, INSIGHT MLS

Digital Projection OEM Lens SL-4K-123 is an OEM optical accessory for Digital Projection professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a 1.65-2.60:1 throw ratio (Zoom), designed for 0.95inch 3DLP(INSIGHT) panels. The factory compatibility list covers 3 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need for adapter-ring workarounds. The value of an OEM lens lies not in a few extra figures in the specification sheet, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all deliver their intended values, eliminating the need for keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specification table, please contact us with the projector model for verification. Ordering solely because the model appears similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.65-2.60:1 (Zoom)), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can focus at any distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 3.55 – 5.59 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 4.26 – 6.71 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 5.32 – 8.38 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 7.09 – 11.18 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear projector cooling or cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; for actual installation, rely on on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (3 Units)

The following table is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where the data is unavailable, “—” is shown and no values are estimated.

To determine whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering solely based on a similar model name is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The rated throw ratio varies by series when the same SL-4K-123 lens is used. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the panel size. SL-4K-123 is designed for 0.95inch 3DLP(INSIGHT) panels. On a projector with a different panel size or resolution, the image circle and edge illumination may be compromised even if the lens fits the mount.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.65-2.60:1 (Zoom). Apply the table in Section 2 to the dimensions of your installation site. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and a zoom lens should still have 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated for the mount of projectors in this series. After installation, you must hear the lock engage; a skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, rather than a defect in the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
