Sony VPLL-3003 Ultra Short Throw Lens for VPL-F755HZ VPL-F750HZ VPL-F655HZ VPL-F630WZ VPL-F436HZ

Sony Genuine Lens VPLL-3003 is an original optical accessory for Sony professional projectors. It is an ultra short throw (Ultra Short Throw) lens with a 0.33:1 throw ratio, designed for Z3-series panels (inches). The official compatibility list covers 5 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—there is no need to make do with an adapter ring. The value of an original lens lies not in the additional specifications it adds to a data sheet, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and lens mount of that model series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, eliminating the need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

The above specifications are subject to the official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and lens mount type not listed in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model for verification. Ordering solely on the basis of a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens has a fixed focal length (0.33:1), so the installation distance changes linearly with the image size and offers no adjustment margin. Accurate measurements are essential before installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 0.71 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 0.85 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 1.06 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 1.42 m

The distances above are clear distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the chassis for ventilation and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.

3. Compatible Models (5 Models)

The table below is based on the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” and are not estimated.

To determine whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens for verification. Platforms from the same generation often share the same lens mount, but the risk of ordering based solely on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The nominal throw ratio of the same VPLL-3003 varies by model series. Select the appropriate value based on the actual series of the projector.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the panel size. VPLL-3003 is designed for Z3-series panels (inches). Even if the lens mount accepts the lens, projectors with a different panel size or resolution may experience problems with image circle coverage and edge illumination.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 0.33:1. Apply the values in the Section 2 table to your site dimensions. A fixed-focal-length lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should have 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends of the zoom range.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the lens mount of that model series. After installation, you must hear the lens click into its locked position. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the current lens nameplate. Verification against the actual units is the most reliable approach.
