Optoma Genuine Lens TZ2 Zoom is an original optical accessory for Optoma professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 3.68-7.04:1. The official compatibility list covers 2 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures on the specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | Optoma (Optoma) |
| Lens Model | TZ2 Zoom |
| Throw Ratio | 3.68-7.04:1 |
| Product Type | Long-throw (Long Throw) |
| Compatible Models | 2 models |
| Warranty | 12 months; after-sales service applies to damage not caused by the user, subject to the date shown on the shipping invoice |
The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specification sheet, please contact us with the projector model for confirmation. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (3.68-7.04:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and it can focus at any point within that range during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 7.91 – 15.14 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 9.49 – 18.16 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 11.87 – 22.70 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 15.82 – 30.27 m |
The distances above are net distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for cooling and cable connections at the rear of the projector. These figures are based on a 16:10 image; actual values must be verified through on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the shorter-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the longer-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When the venue allows, placing the lens near the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, and then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (2 Models)
The table below is taken from the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—”, with no assumptions made.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| EH7700 | 7000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| Europe ProScene EH7500 | — | — |
To determine whether a model not on the list is compatible, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens for verification. Although platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, the risk of ordering based only on a similar model is not worth taking.
Throw Ratios for Different Model Series
The nominal throw ratio varies by model series when the same TZ2 Zoom is installed. Select the value based on the actual series of the projector in use.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 3.68-7.04:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Check the projector chip and resolution. Original lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 3.68-7.04:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. Fixed-focus lenses offer no adjustment margin, and even with a zoom lens, allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends of the range.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount used on that projector series and must audibly lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the physical products is the safest approach.
