Barco Genuine Lens R9832778 Ultra Long Zoom is a factory-original optical accessory for Barco engineering projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a 2.90-5.50:1 throw ratio. The OEM compatibility list covers 18 projector models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to resort to adapter rings. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra figures it adds to a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing range all meet their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to the OEM specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering solely on the basis of a similar model number carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (2.90-5.50:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any point within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 6.23 – 11.82 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 7.48 – 14.19 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 9.35 – 17.74 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 12.47 – 23.65 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front element of the lens to the screen and do not include clearance behind the projector for cooling and cabling. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be confirmed through on-site measurements and the OEM manual.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, and then fine-tune the lens shift.
III. Compatible Projector Models (18 Projectors)

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and existing lens so we can verify compatibility—platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model number is not worth taking.
Throw Ratio by Projector Series
The nominal throw ratio varies by projector series when the same R9832778 Ultra Long Zoom is used. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.
| Projector Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 2.90-5.50:1 |
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector panel and resolution.OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specification differs, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 2.90-5.50:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your site. A fixed-focus lens provides no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens still requires 10–20 cm of clearance at each end.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism.OEM lenses are calibrated to the mount used on that projector series. After installation, you must hear the lock engage. A skewed image and soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely locked lens, not by a fault in the lens itself.
If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
