The SC222 is a short-throw lens for 0.96-inch panels (Barco), with a 0.85–1.37:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It is compatible with 4 projector models across 1 model series. This guide consolidates the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations.

Lens shift is the key differentiator of this lens. With a shift range of 10% horizontally and 4% vertically, the projector can be installed off the screen centerline and the image can be shifted back into alignment using lens shift, without relying on keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—each adjustment step sacrifices some effective pixels and can blur text edges. In professional installations, never use keystone correction when lens shift can achieve the required alignment; this is the baseline for image quality.
II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This is a zoom lens (0.85–1.37:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can be brought into focus at any distance within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 1.83 – 2.95 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 2.19 – 3.53 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 2.74 – 4.42 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 3.65 – 5.89 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and exclude space behind the chassis for cooling and cabling. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; in practice, follow on-site measurements and the manual.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter and the edges slightly softer toward the short-throw end, while the edges are sharper and brightness slightly lower toward the long-throw end. When the venue allows, aim for the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest image on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift—adjusting both at once makes it difficult to pinpoint the optimum.
III. Compatible Models (4 Models, Barco)
The table below is arranged by model production date from newest to oldest and includes each model’s resolution, brightness, and original lens zoom ratio for quick identification according to project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| G100-W16 | 16000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | — |
| G100-W19 | 19000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | — |
| G100-W22 | 22000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | — |
| G100-W25 | 25000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | — |
Common Characteristics of These Models
The throw ratios of the standard lenses supplied with the 4 models vary by lens option (Depends on the lens). The 0.85–1.37:1 ratio of the model featured in this article provides an adjusted zoom range, enabling different image sizes from the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains the full lens-shift capability, so the image can still be aligned after the zoom range is changed.
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm that the panel and resolution match. This model is compatible with a 0.96-inch panel. Projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions may show different projection performance, so checking the projector nameplate before installation is the safest approach.
- Check the mounting interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally compatible within the same platform generation, but the locking-tab positions can differ between generations. If the image is skewed or the edges are not sharp after installation, the most likely cause is an incompletely engaged lock rather than an issue with the lens itself.
- Account for lens-shift margin in the installation. The shift range provides some installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines when it is pushed to the limit. We recommend keeping actual shift use within 70% of the rated value.
The safest way to confirm compatibility with a model not on the list is to send us photos of the projector nameplate and original lens—platforms from the same generation often share interfaces, but ordering on the basis of a similar model designation is not worth the risk.
