WJ161 is a short-throw lens for the 0.65/0.66/0.67 panel group (Hisense), with a 0.62–0.8:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It is compatible with 3 models from 1 model series. This article presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations in one place.
I. Lens Specifications

Lens shift is the key advantage of this lens. A shift range of ±53% horizontally and ±23% vertically allows the projector to be installed off-center relative to the screen centerline, with lens shift used to realign the image without keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—each adjustment sacrifices some effective pixels and blurs text edges. In professional installations, always use lens shift instead of keystone correction whenever possible; this is the minimum standard for image quality.
II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This is a zoom lens (0.62–0.8:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any distance within that range during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 1.33 – 1.72 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 1.60 – 2.06 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 2.00 – 2.58 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 2.67 – 3.44 m |
These distances represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen, excluding space required for rear chassis heat dissipation and cable connections. Figures are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurements and the manual.
Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. When the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, find the sharpest position using the focus ring before fine-tuning the lens shift—adjusting both variables at once makes precise alignment difficult.
III. Compatible Models (3 Models, Hisense)
The table below is arranged by model production date, from newest to oldest, and includes each model's resolution, brightness, and factory lens zoom ratio for quick selection according to project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| P80 | 8500 lumens | 4K 3840×2160 | — |
| P100 | 10000 lumens | 4K 3840×2160 | — |
| P120 | 12000 lumens | 4K 3840×2160 | — |
Common Features of These Models
The factory-standard lens throw ratios for these 3 models are generally listed as Depends on the lens. The 0.62–0.8:1 model featured in this article offers an adjusted zoom range, producing different image sizes from the same projection distance—the direct reason for replacing the lens—while preserving full lens-shift capability so the image can still be aligned after the zoom range is adjusted.
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Panel size and resolution must match. This model is compatible with a 0.67-inch panel. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may produce different projection performance, so checking the chassis nameplate before installation is safest.
- Interfaces and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally interchangeable within the same platform generation, but locking-tab positions vary between generations. If the image appears skewed or the edges are not sharp after installation, the lock is usually not fully engaged rather than the lens itself being defective.
- Allow for lens-shift clearance in the installation. The shift range provides installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines at the limits. Actual use should therefore be kept within 70% of the rated values.
For compatibility with a model not on this list, send us a photo of the chassis nameplate and the original lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share interfaces, but ordering on the basis of a similar model number carries unnecessary risk.
