WD485 is a short-throw lens for the 0.65/0.66/0.67 panel group (Christie), with a 0.35:1 throw ratio. It is compatible with 3 models in 1 model series. This guide presents the lens specifications, installation distance, model compatibility list, and key replacement considerations in one place.
1. Lens Specifications
| Model | WD485 |
| Internal Model | D48-050 |
| Series | WD Series |
| Throw Ratio | 0.35:1 |
| Lens Shift | Vertical -2% ~ +3% |
| Compatible Panel | 0.67 inch |
| Supported Models | 3 Models / 1 Model Series |
| Warranty | 12 months; after-sales service is available for damage not caused by the user, subject to the date on the shipping invoice |
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This lens has a fixed focal length (0.35:1), so the installation distance varies linearly with image size, with no adjustment margin. Measurements must be taken accurately before installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 0.75 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 0.90 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 1.13 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 1.50 m |
These distances represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values are subject to on-site measurements and the manual.
3. Compatible Models (3 Christie Models)
The table below is ordered from newest to oldest by model production date and includes each model's resolution, brightness, and original lens zoom ratio, making it easy to identify the right option for project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| DWU1400-GS | 14000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| DWU1100-GS | 11000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| DWU880-GS | 9500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the model's original standard lens (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the original throw ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this article.
Common Features of These Models
The original standard lenses for these 3 models generally have throw ratios within the 1.22-1.52:1 range. The 0.35:1 model featured here represents a different focal-length setting, allowing a different image size from the same projection distance—the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens-shift capability, so the image can still be aligned after the focal length is adjusted.
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Make sure the panel and resolution match. This model is designed for a 0.67 inch panel. Projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions may show differences in projection performance, so checking the chassis nameplate before installation is the safest approach.
- Check the interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally interchangeable within the same platform generation, but the locking latch position varies between generations. If the image is skewed or the edges look soft after installation, the lock usually has not fully engaged; this is more likely than a fault in the lens itself.
- A fixed focal length leaves no room for zoom adjustment. Image size can only be changed by moving the projector, so the site dimensions must be measured accurately first, with an additional 10–20 cm allowance at each endpoint.
For models not included in the list, the safest option is to send us the projector nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share interfaces, but ordering solely because a model designation looks similar is not worth the risk.
