WE29A is a short-throw lens for the 0.65/0.66/0.67 panel group (full-color displays), with a 0.5–0.6:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It is compatible with four models across two model series. This guide presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and key replacement considerations all in one place.
1. Lens Specifications

Lens-shift capability is the key differentiator of this lens. With a shift range of ±35% horizontally and ±10% vertically, the projector can be installed off the screen centerline and the image realigned using lens shift without keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—each level of correction reduces the effective pixel count and can blur text edges. In professional installations, lens shift should always be used instead of keystone correction whenever possible; maintaining image quality is essential.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This is a zoom lens (0.5–0.6:1), so the same image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can focus at any position within that range during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 1.07 – 1.29 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 1.29 – 1.55 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 1.61 – 1.93 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 2.15 – 2.58 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not account for ventilation or cable connection clearance behind the chassis. Calculations are based on a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual site measurements and the manual take precedence.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. If the installation site allows, target the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest position on the focus ring first, then fine-tune the lens shift—adjusting both at the same time makes precise setup difficult.
3. Compatible Models (4 Models, Full-Color Displays)
The table below is ordered by model production date, from newest to oldest. It includes each model's resolution, brightness, and factory-supplied lens zoom ratio for quick model selection according to project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| M8 | 7000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| MU9 | 8000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| W10 | 10000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| W9 | 9000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
The zoom ratio refers to the zoom factor of the model's original standard lens (the upper limit of the original throw-ratio range divided by the lower limit), not the zoom range of the lens discussed in this article.
Common Characteristics of These Models
The original standard lenses for these four models generally have throw ratios concentrated around 1.22-1.52:1. The 0.5–0.6:1 lens discussed here effectively changes the throw range, allowing the same projection distance to produce a different image size—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens-shift capability, so the image can still be aligned after the throw range is changed.
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- The panel size and resolution must match. This model is compatible with a 0.67-inch panel. Projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions may produce different projection performance, so checking the chassis nameplate before installation is the safest approach.
- Check the mount interface and locking mechanism.Interfaces are generally compatible across platforms of the same generation, but the locking tab positions vary between generations. If the image appears skewed or the edges look soft after installation, the issue is usually an incomplete lock rather than the lens itself.
- Factor lens-shift headroom into the installation. The shift range provides some installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines when it is pushed to its limits. Actual use should therefore be kept within 70% of the specified values.
For models not included in the list, it is safer to send us the chassis nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification—platforms of the same generation often share the same interface, but placing an order based solely on a similar model name carries unnecessary risk.
